According to Bangladesh's prominent Bengali daily Jugantor, Patwari faced an attack while addressing journalists at the polling center around noon. He was safely rescued by law enforcement, but later claimed that supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate, Mirza Abbas, were responsible for the alleged 'vote theft' and assaults.
“While he was speaking, supporters of Mirza Abbas shouted slogans of 'Fake Fake'. At one point, they were chased and the attack took place,” reported Jugantor.
In a post on social media, the NCP leader accused that voting was being influenced by Mirza Abbas's “terrorist forces” and claimed that BNP leaders and supporters assaulted him in the presence of local authorities.
