Kolkata, May 30 (NationPress) The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) announced new notifications for recruiting teaching staff in state-run schools on Friday. This recruitment is specifically for positions in the secondary and higher secondary sections. Notifications have been published for 23,212 assistant teachers in the secondary section and 12,514 assistant teachers for higher secondary schools, while the notifications for non-teaching staff in Group C and Group D categories are still pending.
Last month, the Supreme Court canceled 25,753 teaching and non-teaching posts in West Bengal's state-run schools, instructing the government to initiate fresh recruitment for both categories by May 31.
The Chief Minister announced earlier this week that the new recruitment notification would be released on Friday. Following this, WBSSC published the notice on its website, focused solely on teaching positions.
As per the notification, candidates can apply online for the desired posts from June 16 to July 14. The application fee is set at Rs 500 for general category applicants and Rs 200 for those in reserved categories.
The written examination for recruitment is scheduled for the first week of September, with results expected in the fourth week of October. The interview process will take place from the first to the third week of November.
The final panel will be released on November 24, with counseling occurring on November 29.
On April 3, the Supreme Court's division bench upheld a previous order by the Calcutta High Court that annulled 25,753 school jobs due to the state's failure to distinguish between 'untainted' and 'tainted' candidates.
Both the state government and WBSSC have submitted review petitions to the apex court regarding this matter.
