Director Shiva Nirvana has promised that audiences will encounter a completely new dimension of actor Ravi Teja in their upcoming collaboration 'Irumudi', a film rooted in family emotion and spiritual backdrop. Speaking about the project, the filmmaker said the story goes far beyond devotion, centering instead on the bond between a father and his daughter.

The Story Behind 'Irumudi'

Shiva Nirvana, celebrated for hits such as 'Ninnu Kori', 'Majili', 'Tuck Jagadish', and 'Kushi', revealed that the film's full title is 'Irumudi Kattu'. “When I began writing 'Irumudi Kattu', I wanted to tell a story that was deeply rooted in human emotions,” he said. The Ayyappa Swamy pilgrimage tradition serves as an important narrative layer, but the director was clear that devotion is not the film's sole anchor. “At its heart is the relationship between a father and his daughter, and the emotions, choices and transformations that emerge from that bond,” he explained. Shiva Nirvana added that his own childhood familiarity with the Ayyappa tradition informed the spiritual texture of the film, using it to deepen character transformation rather than define the plot.

Ravi Teja in a New Light

This marks the first collaboration between Shiva Nirvana and Ravi Teja, and the director was effusive about the experience. “Ravi Teja sir has been extraordinary to work with. I wanted to present him in a space that audiences have not experienced from him before, while retaining the energy and theatricality that they love him for,” he said. He noted that Ravi Teja's character traverses several emotional layers and that the actor “embraced every shade of the role with complete commitment.”

Actress Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead Kaveri, while child artist Baby Nakshathra portrays Ravi Teja's daughter in the film. The supporting cast includes Sai Kumar, Ajay Ghosh, Ramesh Indira, and Swasika. Shiva Nirvana praised the sincerity of the entire ensemble, saying every relationship in the film was given its own emotional weight. “I wanted the emotions to feel organic rather than merely serving the plot,” he added. Music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar has scored the film, with Vishnu Sharma on cinematography, Prawin Pudi as editor, and Sahi Suresh handling production design.
