Kolkata, Oct 6 (NationPress) The outcomes of the recent recruitment examinations organized by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) to fill the teaching positions that became vacant due to the Supreme Court's cancellation of 25,753 school jobs in the state earlier this year are anticipated to be announced by the end of this month.
The written exams for the recruitment of secondary and higher secondary teachers took place in two sessions on September 14 and September 7. A source from the commission stated, “Our aim is to release the results by the end of this month so that interviews can commence next month.”
According to WBSSC's timetable, the interview procedure is expected to begin in November, with the entire recruitment process set to conclude by the end of this year, as directed by the Supreme Court to finalize the recruitment by December 31.
Earlier this year, a division bench of the Supreme Court had upheld a previous ruling from the Calcutta High Court, which annulled 25,753 school jobs—essentially nullifying the entire WBSSC panel from 2016.
The apex court acknowledged the Calcutta High Court's observation that the entire panel needed to be cancelled because the West Bengal government and the commission failed to distinguish between untainted and tainted candidates.
Opposition parties, along with some untainted candidates, have accused the West Bengal government of deliberately avoiding the segregation of untainted candidates to protect those who gained jobs through corrupt means.
Just days before the new recruitment examinations, the commission released a list identifying specific candidates as tainted, but there were concerns about the credibility of this list.
