Kolkata, Nov 24 (NationPress) The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) is set to unveil the results of the written examination for the recruitment of secondary teachers for Class IX and Class X in government schools today. The results will be available on the official website by the evening.

On the same day, the commission will also inform candidates who qualified for the interview about the start date for document verification.

The written examination was administered in September, with a total score of 50 marks. According to a source within WBSSC, the authorities have implemented strict measures for scrutinizing and verifying the documents of all candidates who have qualified for the interview.

This verification process includes academic mark-sheets, certificates, birth certificates, and notably, experience certificates for those claiming the 10-mark weightage for prior teaching experience.

The recruitment initiative aims to fill 23,212 vacancies in the secondary section across government-run schools in West Bengal.

This new recruitment follows the cancellation of approximately 26,000 school jobs, including teaching and non-teaching roles, by a Division Bench of the Supreme Court earlier this year.

On April 3, the Supreme Court annulled all 25,753 school appointments made under the 2016 WBSSC panel, which encompassed both teaching and non-teaching positions.

The cancellation was due to the WBSSC and the state government failing to provide separate lists identifying legitimate candidates and those who obtained positions through illegal means, despite multiple directives from the Calcutta High Court and later the Supreme Court.

Earlier this month, WBSSC declared the results of the written exam for higher secondary teachers (Class XI and Class XII) under the same recruitment process. Approximately 300 candidates who qualified for interviews were disqualified after being found to have submitted forged experience certificates to claim the 10-mark weightage.

Insiders at WBSSC revealed that some disqualified candidates also submitted forged birth certificates and academic mark-sheets.
