Patna, Jan 28 (NationPress) A woman named Dukhani Devi was tragically shot and killed after she bravely confronted intruders in her home in Muzaffarpur early Tuesday morning, according to police reports.
The event occurred in the Dargah area under the jurisdiction of the Katra police station in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar.
As per police statements, Devi and her spouse were asleep when they were disturbed by sounds coming from within their residence. They discovered a group of men had entered.
When they confronted the intruders, the assailants warned them to stay quiet. However, when Devi raised an alarm, a struggle broke out, during which she was shot, resulting in serious injuries.
Her desperate cries for assistance drew the attention of nearby residents, leading to a swift response with a substantial crowd assembling at the location.
Realizing the situation was escalating, the robbers attempted to escape. Villagers succeeded in apprehending two of the suspects before they could get away.
Law enforcement was notified, and the suspects were handed over to the authorities. Following the incident, local villagers reported the matter to the police.
Investigations are ongoing as the local authorities work diligently to identify and capture other individuals involved.
Abhishek Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Katra police station, confirmed the event, stating, “Upon receiving news of the incident, we rushed to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her gunshot wounds and significant blood loss. The two suspects captured by the villagers have also been arrested and are receiving treatment at the hospital.”
“An FIR has been registered against two known offenders and several unidentified assailants under applicable sections related to murder and robbery within the Katra police station jurisdiction. We are actively pursuing the remaining suspects and awaiting the recovery of the injured criminals. We will interrogate them to uncover the locations of their accomplices,” Kumar added.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into this serious incident.
