Navsari, March 7 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to address the Lakhpati Didi initiative in Gujarat's Navsari on International Women’s Day this Saturday, numerous inspiring narratives of women entrepreneurs and achievers from the area are emerging.
Over 34,000 women in Navsari have embraced self-employment, aided by various government programs, leading them to achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency. They launched their home-based businesses by securing bank loans, and now they serve as role models in their communities by becoming 'lakhpati' and 'millionaire' didis.
Sangeeta Solanki from Shahu village availed a loan through the Sakhi Mandal to establish her business. Her goal was to support her family and generate income through her efforts.
Initially, she earned money through sewing, but due to low earnings, she sought work in distant locations.
"I joined a group of 10 women from the village and initiated a home business with a small loan. However, that was still insufficient," she recounted.
After receiving training as a Bank Mitra under CSC, she set up a Bank Mitra unit at her home, acquired equipment like a computer and printer through a Mudra Loan, and began her operations. Although her earnings were modest in the first month, she remained optimistic.
She enthusiastically began offering banking services along with assistance with PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, e-Shramik cards, and bill payments for gas and electricity. Today, she earns an impressive Rs 10,000 monthly.
She expresses gratitude to the Modi government for the transformative impact on her life, thanks to the 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme.
Jignasaben Mistry, another resident of Moldhara village in Navsari taluka, shares a similar journey.
After completing her commerce degree, she studied fine arts and began selling artificial jewelry under the Sakhi Mandali initiative.
Motivated to provide financial support for her family, she started creating and selling unique artificial jewelry.
She received help from government organizations for sourcing raw materials to craft her jewelry. Today, she has achieved self-sufficiency by marketing her artificial jewelry at various government and private exhibitions, earning over one lakh rupees annually.
