Gaya, July 26 (NationPress) In a shocking incident reported on Friday, a woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving ambulance while being transferred to a hospital after losing consciousness during a physical examination for the Home Guard recruitment process. On Saturday, the district police presented the two individuals arrested for this heinous crime in district court.
The court has ordered both suspects to be held in 14-day judicial custody, as confirmed by an official.
According to Gaya City SP Ramanand Kumar Kaushal, the victim has successfully identified the accused—Vinay Kumar, the ambulance driver from Uttaran Koch in Gaya district, and Ajit Kumar, a technician hailing from Chandpur in Nalanda district.
The tragic event unfolded on Friday afternoon when the victim, who was participating in the Home Guard recruitment at the BMP-3 campus, collapsed during her physical examination.
She was en route to Magadh Medical College Hospital when she was reportedly assaulted by the individuals present in the ambulance, including the driver and technician.
During this harrowing journey, the victim was allegedly attacked while she remained unconscious, as confirmed by the ongoing investigation.
“The victim has undergone a medical examination, which has verified the occurrence of gang rape,” stated City SP Kaushal.
Kaushal also noted that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to delve deeper into this case, with recommendations for an expedited trial.
The victim, a resident of the Imamganj police station area, reported regaining consciousness and stated that three to four individuals were present in the vehicle during the incident.
Currently, two suspects—the driver and technician—are in police custody.
After an FIR was filed, Gaya SIT, led by an officer of the SDPO rank, has been actively investigating the case.
The police have gathered significant evidence from CCTV footage and are conducting raids to apprehend additional suspects.
This incident has ignited widespread outrage and has brought renewed attention to the issue of women’s safety in Bihar, particularly during official recruitment processes.
