Patna, April 28 (NationPress) In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman was gang-raped by three men near Sasamusa railway station within the Kuchaykot police station jurisdiction of Gopalganj district on Monday.
The police reported that the crime occurred around 5 AM when the woman, who was assisting her father with his medical treatment in Shyampur village, was on her way back to Uttar Pradesh.
While waiting for her train at Sasamusa station, she went to a nearby hand pump for water. It was there that three unidentified individuals allegedly approached her and gagged her mouth.
They then took her to a secluded area near the railway station and gang-raped her one after another. After the assault, they fled, leaving the victim at the site.
In distress, the woman returned to her paralyzed father to recount her harrowing experience.
Local residents, upon hearing her plight, promptly notified the police.
Responding rapidly, the police arrived at the scene, conducted a medical examination that confirmed the assault, and registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) at Kuchaykot police station based on her testimony.
The victim was able to provide descriptions of her attackers. As of now, one suspect has been apprehended and identified as Abhishek Bind, a local from Kuchaykot.
The detained individual is currently being interrogated, while continuous efforts are being made to locate the other two suspects.
Confirming these developments, Pranjal, Sadar SDPO, stated: "Investigations are underway with the victim’s statement being recorded. One suspect has been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining assailants soon."
