Patna, July 26 (NationPress) Bihar's Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav has expressed sharp criticism towards the Nitish Kumar administration after a distressing incident of gang rape in Gaya. A young woman was sexually assaulted while being transported in a government-provided ambulance after losing consciousness during a Home Guard recruitment event.
Tejashwi Yadav took to social media to voice his indignation, tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioning the state of governance in Bihar.
"Is this what you refer to as a demon rule in Bihar? Is this vicious governance shielded by criminals? Is this a prime example of jungle raj or the mismanagement of Modi-Nitish?" Yadav questioned.
The incident transpired at the BMP-3 campus, where the victim collapsed during a physical test and was en route to Magadh Medical College Hospital.
During the transport, she was allegedly assaulted while unconscious by individuals present in the ambulance, including the driver and a technician.
The victim, who resides in the Imamganj police station area, later recounted that three to four people were in the vehicle at the time of the assault.
So far, two suspects, the driver and technician, have been apprehended.
After an FIR was filed, Gaya SSP Anand Kumar established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the SDPO.
The police are gathering vital evidence from CCTV footage and conducting operations to capture the remaining suspects.
Labeling it a "heart-wrenching" instance of escalating crime and administrative failure in Bihar, Yadav stated, "Under this double-engine rule, the dignity of mothers, sisters, daughters, and innocent individuals is being violated daily. Yet, no minister or deputy CMs have the courage to speak out against this lawlessness."
He further criticized the silence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputies, calling it a criminal act and a testament to the failing state.
"If such appalling incidents fail to incite outrage among those who consider themselves enlightened and justice-seeking, then those individuals are nothing but extreme casteists and biased individuals of the worst kind," he added.
This incident has ignited outrage across the political landscape, raising serious concerns about women’s safety and the efficacy of Bihar’s law enforcement ahead of the upcoming state elections.
