Has Tejashwi Yadav Unveiled a Damning Crime Bulletin Targeting Nitish Kumar's Government Over Rising Crimes Against Women?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday unveiled a crime bulletin that fiercely criticized the Nitish Kumar-led 'double-engine' NDA government for the alarming rise in crimes against women and children in the state.
In a pointed post on his official X account, Tejashwi Yadav employed sarcasm to lambaste the government, stating, "In the so-called Ram Rajya established by the Modi–Nitish administration, such 'auspicious' incidents occur daily that even the media finds it challenging to cover them. Hundreds of girls aged between 1.5 and 11 years have suffered from rape. In this 'Mangalrajya', both the system and the criminals belong to them."
Intensifying his criticism, Tejashwi suggested that there was political backing for the criminals, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would "campaign in Bihar and depart after shaming the state."
He contended that the silence from central authorities implied tacit endorsement, adding that rapists were shielded by those in power.
The RJD leader cited several recent cases involving rape, gang rape, murders following sexual assault, and attacks on women and minors across various districts in Bihar, arguing that these incidents illustrate a severe breakdown of law and order.
He highlighted a case where an 18-month-old girl was raped and suffered critical injuries in Saharsa. A six-year-old girl was raped in Kishanganj, while another girl was both raped and murdered in Darbhanga. An attempted rape case occurred in Patna, where a woman's husband was assaulted while trying to help her.
A minor was gang-raped in Saran, and a mother is desperately seeking justice for another rape and murder case in Bhagalpur.
Moreover, an eight-year-old girl was raped in Lakhisarai, and a UP dancer was gang-raped in Bhojpur.
Another eight-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped while on her way to school in Sheikhpura, and a four-year-old girl was raped while a woman was murdered after being raped in Nawada.
A minor was raped in Tarapur, Munger, and a young woman suffered brutal rape, while a teenager was also raped in Munger.
Tejashwi Yadav questioned the Bihar government's repeated assertions of 'zero tolerance' towards crime, pointing out that violence against women and girls is ongoing.
Previously, he raised serious concerns regarding the investigation into a NEET aspirant's suspicious death case in a girls' hostel in Patna earlier this year.
He indicated that the Bihar Police, Special Investigation Team (SIT), and CID failed to reach any conclusions, necessitating the case's transfer to the CBI.
The 17-year-old student was discovered unconscious at Shambhu Girls' Hostel on January 6 and later succumbed to her injuries on January 11.
According to post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory reports, the possibility of sexual assault could not be dismissed, inciting widespread outrage and protests.
In closing, Tejashwi challenged the Bihar government to respond, questioning whether the brave leaders of what he termed an incompetent regime had any answers for the victims and their families.
