Patna, July 17 (NationPress) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the 'double-engine' government in Bihar, spearheaded by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, focusing on various pressing issues such as rising crime rates and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated by the Election Commission.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Tejashwi Yadav remarked: “This government has become ineffective. The Chief Minister appears to be in a state of denial... criminals have taken control of the state. It is alarming that a Bihar Police officer suggested that crime rates increase during the monsoon. This reflects the jungle raj that prevails in Bihar.”
He further lambasted the law and order situation, stating: “Criminals have become the Samrat (King) and Vijay (Victorious) of Bihar. The populace is gripped by fear, and safety seems like a distant dream. Daily incidents of murder, rape, and gang rape occur, but no effective action is being taken, and victims are left unheard.”
He emphasized, “One component of this double-engine government is mired in corruption, while the other fosters crime. They lack the capability to govern Bihar.”
In response to the SIR process initiated by the Election Commission, Tejashwi Yadav also expressed his discontent with the poll panel.
“We will not permit anyone to infringe upon our voting rights. Silence is not an option; we will stand and fight,” he declared.
When questioned about the Nitish Kumar government’s recent announcement of providing 125 units of free electricity, Tejashwi commented: “This government is merely imitating others. They lack foresight. When we promised 1 million jobs during the 2020 Assembly elections, Nitish Kumar ridiculed us by asking where the funding for salaries would come from, even questioning if it would be from Tejashwi’s father.”
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Motihari on July 18, Tejashwi Yadav stated: “The Prime Minister should meet the families of victims who have suffered from rampant murders. He must ensure public safety and deliver justice for the victims. The reality is that the Prime Minister only visits Bihar to solicit votes.”
When asked about Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, alias Lalan Singh, hosting a 'mutton party' during the month of Sawan, Tejashwi Yadav replied: “The Prime Minister is arriving in Bihar tomorrow (Friday) and will likely commend Lalan Singh from the stage for organizing a mutton party for his supporters. He is merely playing the role of a benefactor.”
