Yogi Adityanath holds Janata Darshan in Gorakhpur, orders crackdown on false IGRS reports
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday, 2 November 2026, held a Janata Darshan at the Gorakhnath Temple premises in Gorakhpur, hearing grievances from approximately 200 complainants and directing officials to take prompt action on every pending concern. The public outreach session was the second consecutive day of such hearings held outside the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan within the temple complex.
Crackdown on False IGRS Portal Reports
A recurring concern raised by several complainants was the uploading of incorrect or misleading reports on the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal. Chief Minister Yogi expressed clear displeasure over the practice and directed officials to initiate strict action against those found submitting false reports on the platform. The IGRS portal is the state government's primary digital channel for tracking and resolving citizen grievances, making data integrity on it critical to the programme's credibility.
'Every complainant's grievance must be handled with sensitivity and resolved within a stipulated timeframe, while ensuring complete transparency,' the Chief Minister said during the session.
Key Directions Issued to Officials
After receiving applications from complainants, CM Yogi personally handed them to the relevant officials and stressed that resolutions must not only be timely but must also genuinely satisfy the complainant. On complaints related to forcible land encroachment, he directed officials to pursue stringent legal action against those involved. He further instructed them to conduct thorough investigations into cases where complainants had allegedly faced prolonged harassment, and to fix accountability wherever lapses were found.
Notably, this is the second successive day of the public hearing, signalling a sustained effort by the Chief Minister to directly engage with grassroots grievances rather than routing them entirely through administrative channels.
Medical Assistance Pledged from CM Discretionary Fund
Several attendees sought financial support for medical treatment. Assuring them of state backing, CM Yogi directed officials to expedite the process of obtaining medical cost estimates from hospitals and forward proposals to the state government without delay. He said that financial constraints would not be allowed to obstruct anyone's treatment, and confirmed that adequate assistance would be channelled through the Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund.
Among those who approached him was a woman with a disability, who described her family's financial hardships and also sought help in securing employment for her brother, a Class 12 pass. The Chief Minister directed officials to examine her case and provide appropriate assistance.
Morning Routine and Gaushala Visit
Before the public hearing, CM Yogi followed his customary morning routine at the Gorakhnath Temple. He offered prayers to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, revered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva, and paid his respects at the samadhi of his spiritual mentor, Mahant Avaidyanath. He also visited the temple's gaushala, where he performed Gau Seva — feeding cattle rotis and jaggery. As cattle gathered around him, he was heard gently guiding them aside to prevent injury before feeding them.
The Chief Minister is expected to continue such outreach engagements as part of his broader push to strengthen grievance redressal at the ground level across Uttar Pradesh.
