New Delhi, July 20 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has delivered a stern warning to individuals attempting to tarnish the reputation of the annual Kanwar Yatra. He emphasized that decisive measures will be enacted against miscreants and vandals.
While addressing the media in Meerut, he stated, “We possess CCTV evidence of those engaging in acts of vandalism aimed at discrediting the yatra. Once the Kanwar Yatra concludes peacefully, we will display posters of these offenders and initiate stringent actions against them.”
CM Yogi’s comments arise in response to numerous incidents captured on social media, where some Kanwariyas have been observed participating in vandalism—damaging vehicles, assaulting individuals, and causing public disturbances.
The Chief Minister accused certain factions of attempting to tarnish the religious pilgrimage both online and offline through misleading narratives. He urged all Kanwar Sangh members and devotees to uphold the sanctity of the Yatra, stating, “Those who seek to defame the Kanwar Yatra under the pretext of being devotees must be identified and excluded. It is our obligation to ensure they do not infiltrate this sacred journey.”
Emphasizing the importance of Lord Shiva and the peaceful spirit of the pilgrimage, CM Yogi reminded devotees of their duty to respect others and maintain cleanliness. “The administration has established all essential arrangements, but each pilgrim must ensure that no one is disturbed, and no area is sullied during the yatra,” he said, encouraging Kanwariyas to refrain from littering.
“If anyone attempts to disrupt the law or desecrate the yatra, immediate notification to the police is crucial. The administration is on high alert,” he added.
The Chief Minister also reflected on how the Kanwar Yatra was overlooked prior to 2017 under previous administrations. “Today, you have a government that honors your beliefs. Let’s collaborate to guarantee this sacred event remains peaceful and revered,” he concluded.
