New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, has emerged as India's leading wealth gainer in absolute terms, witnessing a remarkable surge of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore in his net worth, as reported by the ‘Hurun Global Rich List 2025’ on Thursday.

Adani's overall wealth saw a rise of 13 percent, amounting to around Rs 8.4 lakh crore, which positions him as the second richest individual in India on the global scale.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, has fallen out of the global top 10 wealthiest individuals' list, with his net worth declining by Rs 1 lakh crore compared to the previous year, totaling Rs 8.6 lakh crore, a situation influenced by rising levels of debt.

Despite these losses, Ambani continues to hold the title of Asia's richest person according to the list.

The rankings reveal that the 62-year-old Adani retains his status as the second wealthiest man in India and ranks 18th globally.

The billionaire, who began his career as a commodity trader, now leads a diversified conglomerate involved in sectors such as renewable energy, ports, airports, mining, power generation, media, and cement. He briefly held the title of richest person in Asia in 2024.

In India, Roshni Nadar and her family, associated with HCL, achieved a net worth of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, earning her the title of the fifth richest woman globally and marking her as the first Indian woman to enter the global top 10 female billionaires.

Dilip Shanghvi, of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, ranked fourth with a wealth of Rs 2.5 lakh crore, followed by Aziz Premji, the Wipro Founder, at fifth place with Rs 2.2 lakh crore.

They are closely followed by Kumar Mangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla Group and Cyrus S. Poonawalla from the Serum Institute of India, both tied with a wealth of Rs 2 lakh crore.

Nirav Bajaj from Bajaj India holds the eighth position with Rs 1.6 lakh crore, followed by Ravi Jaipuria from RJ Corp and Radhakishan Damani, the owner of D-Mart, who are both tied with Rs 1.4 lakh crore.

The ‘Hurun Global Rich List 2025’ evaluated 3,442 billionaires globally, an increase from 3,278 last year, representing a total of 71 countries. The billionaire count rose by 5 percent, and their combined wealth increased by 13 percent.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has once again secured his position as the world's wealthiest individual, achieving the top spot for the fourth time in five years.
