Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Friday, 1 May 2025, announced that the conglomerate would add ₹2 lakh crore in new assets within the current year alone, marking a sharp acceleration in the group's growth trajectory across its core businesses. The announcement was made as Adani addressed 4 lakh employees of the group on International Labour Day.

A Historic Milestone in Asset Creation

Gautam Adani placed the announcement in a striking historical context, noting that it took the group 35 years to build its first ₹2 lakh crore in assets. "In our first 35 years, we collectively built assets worth approximately ₹2 lakh crore. And today, such is our standing that within this single year alone, we are going to add another ₹2 lakh crore in new assets," he said. The comparison underscores the scale of expansion the group is currently undertaking across infrastructure, energy, logistics, and aviation.

Key Projects Driving the Growth Push

Adani cited several flagship projects as embodiments of the group's nation-building ambition. The Mundra Port in Gujarat, which transformed barren coastal land into India's largest port, was highlighted as a benchmark for what the group's infrastructure investments can deliver — accelerating trade and connecting India to global markets.

The recently completed 594-km greenfield Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this week, was cited as another transformational project. According to Adani, the expressway will cut travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from 10–11 hours to 5–6 hours, directly benefiting over 8 crore people. "When we complete a project, we are not simply finishing a task; we are shaping the future of our country," he remarked.

The Vizhinjam Port in Kerala was also highlighted as a project set to reposition India on the global maritime map and propel the country toward becoming a major transshipment hub. Meanwhile, the group's renewable energy project at Khavda in Kutch — described as one of the world's largest green energy installations currently under construction — was presented as central to India's clean energy future.

Aviation and Urban Transformation

Adani pointed to the Navi Mumbai International Airport as a project that would add significant capacity to India's aviation sector, enhancing connectivity and unlocking economic opportunities for millions. He described it as "the pride of the country as one of the finest airports in the world."

The Dharavi slum redevelopment project in Mumbai was also underscored as a unique undertaking. "This is not merely a project; it is, perhaps, the world's largest and most challenging endeavour in human transformation," Adani said, framing it as a social mission as much as a commercial one.

Vision Aligned With Viksit Bharat 2047

Adani linked the group's growth agenda to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. He stated that the Adani Group would strive to contribute its share to this national journey. "All these projects undertaken by the Adani Group with pride and satisfaction — represent a humble contribution towards nation-building," he remarked. The group's expansion plans, if executed on schedule, would represent one of the fastest asset-creation cycles by any Indian conglomerate in a single financial year. All eyes will now be on project timelines and capital deployment as the group races to meet its own ambitious benchmark.
