New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to drive job opportunities across diverse fields such as data science and data curation. Currently, 8.65 lakh candidates have registered for various training programs, with 3.20 lakh candidates specifically focused on AI/Big Data Analytics, as reported to Parliament on Thursday.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the ‘FutureSkills PRIME’ initiative aimed at re-skilling and up-skilling IT professionals in 10 new and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.

According to Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shobha Karandlaje, more than 18.56 lakh candidates have registered on the Future Skills PRIME Portal, with over 3.37 lakh candidates successfully completing their courses.

A recent Nasscom report titled “Advancing India’s AI skills” anticipates a growth in AI talent in India, projecting an increase from 6 lakh–6.5 lakh professionals to beyond 12.50 lakh professionals by 2027, reflecting a 15 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

The minister also highlighted the Scheme of Centers of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence, implemented by MeitY in partnership with Nasscom, which supports startups in developing AI-based tools and applications beneficial for manufacturing.

“Numerous solutions have already been adopted by manufacturing firms. Moreover, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and MeitY, in conjunction with their partners, have launched ‘YUVAi: Youth for Unnati and Vikas with AI’—a national initiative aimed at equipping school students from classes 8 to 12 with AI technology and social skills in a comprehensive manner,” she outlined.

This program offers a platform for youth to acquire and implement AI skills across eight thematic domains: Krishi (Agriculture), Aarogya (Health), Shiksha (Education), Paryavaran (Environment), Parivahan (Transportation), Grameen Vikas (Rural Development), Smart Cities, and Vidhi aur Nyaay (Law and Justice).

The Ministry of Labour and Employment operates the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, providing a comprehensive career-related service, including job information from both private and government sectors.
