Ambuja Cements Forms Strategic Alliance with Finland's Coolbrook to Achieve Net Zero Objectives

Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (NationPress) In a significant effort to meet its Net Zero objectives, Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material division of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has officially announced a strategic collaboration with Coolbrook, a technology and engineering firm based in Finland.

This partnership will see Ambuja adopt Coolbrook's unique RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) technology, aimed at markedly reducing reliance on fossil fuels alongside lowering carbon emissions.

By utilizing renewable electricity for zero carbon high-temperature process heating, Ambuja Cements is poised to drastically cut down on fossil fuel use.

"Our collaboration with Coolbrook is a thrilling development that underscores our dedication to achieving Net Zero targets. This initiative reinforces our leadership position in sustainability within the industry. We are constantly exploring innovations that enhance efficiency and facilitate decarbonization throughout our cement manufacturing supply chain," stated Ajay Kapur, CEO of Adani Group Cement Business.

"By leveraging the Adani Group's green power generation capabilities, we aim to decrease fossil fuel dependence, lower costs, and minimize emissions, ultimately providing the greatest value to our stakeholders," Kapur continued.

The RDH technology employs mechanical energy to produce high temperatures using green energy at competitive rates. This method can replace or reduce the fossil fuels typically needed to achieve high temperatures in cement kiln precalciners, which are essential for cement production and various other applications.

"Ambuja Cements’ strong commitment to sustainability and leadership in renewable energy makes them an ideal partner for us to broaden our offerings and propel the global energy transition," remarked Joonas Rauramo, CEO of Coolbrook.

Being a carbon-neutral process, it has the potential to drastically reduce emissions stemming from the use of traditional fuels in cement manufacturing.

This innovative technology enhances Ambuja Cements’ leadership in promoting decarbonization across its cement production processes. It aligns with Ambuja Cements' ambition to increase Alternative Fuel Rate (AFR) to 28% and achieve 60% in green power by 2028, according to the company.

Ambuja Cements, along with its subsidiaries, has expanded the Adani Group’s cement capacity to 89 MTPA, featuring 22 integrated cement plants and 21 cement grinding units nationwide.
