New Delhi, Sep 17 (NationPress) The government has initiated Angikaar 2025, a two-month nationwide campaign aimed at accelerating application verification and house completion under PMAY-Urban 2.0, which was launched exactly one year ago on September 17.
This expedited Angikaar 2025 initiative will reach over 5,000 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) through extensive door-to-door awareness campaigns, housing camps, and public events, as stated in an official announcement made on Wednesday.
Under PMAY-Urban 2.0, an additional 1.47 lakh pucca houses have been approved, bringing the total number of sanctioned homes to 8.56 lakh.
The central event of Angikaar 2025, titled "PM Awas Mela – Shehri", is scheduled from September 17 to 27. This event serves as a vibrant platform to showcase the advantages of PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0, while promoting collaboration and community involvement at the grassroots level. The event will occur in two phases: the first from September 17 to 27 and the second on a day between October 15 and 31, according to the statement.
Considerable housing has been allocated for marginalized communities, including 32,551 for SC, 5,025 for ST, and 58,375 for OBC families.
“Whether it’s assisting families with their applications, expediting the construction of long-awaited homes, or linking them to solar power and loan support, Angikaar is focused on reaching the unreached and including the excluded,” the statement emphasized.
When the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) was introduced in 2015, it came with a bold commitment— "Housing for All". Over time, it has significantly transformed the lives of millions of low-income families in urban areas, enabling them to secure safe, permanent, and affordable housing. Building on this legacy, PMAY-Urban 2.0 was launched in September 2024. Its mission is straightforward yet impactful: ensure that no family is left behind. Each urban household, irrespective of their background, deserves not just a roof but a secure home with access to essential services.
At its essence, Angikaar 2025 is a campaign driven by a mission to guarantee comprehensive coverage of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 scheme across India’s urban territories, the statement further noted.
