AWS Invests $100 Million to Empower Underserved Students in Emerging Technologies

New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) Amazon Web Services (AWS) has pledged up to $100 million in cloud credits over the next five years to assist underserved students in developing skills in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, literacy, and additional fields.

This new initiative will offer recipients cloud credits, which function as cash that organizations can utilize to reduce expenses associated with AWS's cloud services.

According to the company, “Recipients will be able to leverage AWS's extensive portfolio of cloud technology and advanced AI services to innovate solutions such as AI assistants, coding programs, connectivity tools, student learning platforms, mobile applications, chatbots, and various technology-driven educational experiences.”

Proficiency in AI, machine learning (ML), cloud computing, and computer science can unlock numerous opportunities for students.

AWS has reported collaboration with over 50 organizations across 10 countries, empowering them to harness advanced technologies to deliver digital education solutions to underserved and underrepresented communities.

Rocket Learning, a nonprofit organization based in India, aims to enhance early childhood education access for underserved children by scaling a project that utilizes Amazon Q in AWS QuickSight as a generative business intelligence service to evaluate trends and the effectiveness of video and WhatsApp-based content provided to educators and parents.

This analysis is crucial for optimizing content to improve learning outcomes for children from diverse regions, considering differences in languages and cultures.

Over the past year, more than 2 million students have benefited from over 17 million hours of courses in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as literacy and career development through the Amazon Future Engineer program, which spans from childhood to career.

AWS’s AI and ML Scholarship Program has granted $28 million in scholarships to around 6,000 students to prepare them for careers in AI.

The company has stated its intention to assist nonprofits, educational technology firms, social enterprises, government bodies, and corporate social responsibility teams in broadening access to educational and development opportunities for underrepresented and underserved communities.
