How is Bharat Taxi Gaining 45,000 Users Daily and Surpassing 4 Lakh Users?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 5 (NationPress) A newly launched government-supported cab-hailing platform, Bharat Taxi, is quickly establishing its presence across India, just days post-launch, indicating a robust initial reaction from users and posing strong competition to Ola and Uber.
Backed by the Ministry of Cooperation, the app is experiencing a remarkable uptick in user registrations, with approximately 40,000 to 45,000 new users joining daily over the last two days.
As noted in a recent social media update by the Ministry of Cooperation, Bharat Taxi has successfully surpassed four lakh registered users.
Currently, the platform holds the ninth position on the Google Play Store and thirteenth on Apple’s App Store, while its driver-centric app ranks twentieth on the Play Store.
This phase is a precursor to a larger nationwide launch under the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”, spearheaded by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
Bharat Taxi was officially introduced as a cooperative-based alternative to existing cab aggregators.
It aims to be a transparent and driver-friendly platform, focusing on police-verified drivers and ensuring safer travel.
The app is accessible on both Android and iOS, and initial usage indicates that it is carving out a niche in India’s competitive ride-hailing sector.
From a user perspective, the application features a clean and intuitive interface. Booking a ride within the city is straightforward, and the app also provides additional services, including metro ticket reservations and cab rentals for up to 12 hours.
Safety features are prominently featured, offering options to contact police, alert emergency contacts, reach a safety team, and activate a siren right from the app.
While many of these functionalities mirror those of established competitors, their effectiveness will be fully understood as user engagement increases.
Initial feedback, however, has revealed some limitations. Fare rates do not consistently appear cheaper than those of existing platforms, and there are sporadic inconsistencies, such as identical pricing for AC and non-AC cabs, indicating that the app is still undergoing refinements.
The sign-up process is both quick and uncomplicated, requiring only basic information such as a mobile number, name, and email address, but the overall user experience still seems like a work in progress.
A key commitment of Bharat Taxi is its driver-centric model. The platform currently declares that it will not impose any commission on drivers, allowing them to retain the full fare paid by passengers.
Plans are also underway to establish dedicated pickup and drop zones at airports, akin to those utilized by Ola and Uber, with future expansions to other transport hubs.
