Bharat Tex 2026: India's global textile expo set for July 14–17 at Bharat Mandapam
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
India's largest global textile exposition, Bharat Tex 2026, is scheduled from 14 to 17 July 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with the Ministry of Textiles confirming the event will spotlight the country's standing in textiles, fashion, sustainability, technology, innovation, and international trade. The announcement was made via an official ministry statement on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
The third edition of the event is expected to draw over 7,000 buyers and 1.3 lakh trade visitors, with more than 20,000 textile products and exhibitions spread across 1.6 million sq. ft. of floor space, facilitating large-scale commercial engagements over the four-day run.
Scale and Participation
Organised by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation — a consortium of Textile Export Promotion Councils and industry bodies — the expo will bring together manufacturers, exporters, global buyers, brands, sourcing consultants, investors, policymakers, designers, artisans, start-ups, and technology providers, all under one roof with Ministry of Textiles backing.
Over 1,600 exhibitors will present the complete textile value chain across dedicated halls spanning fibre, yarn, fabric, apparel and fashion, home textiles, technical textiles, and ancillary industries. International exhibitors from 14 countries — including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Portugal, Spain, New Zealand, South Korea, South Africa, and Nepal — will participate, with a dedicated International Pavilion designed to deepen cross-border engagement.
State Engagement and Cluster Showcases
Eight sponsor states — Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu — will have a prominent presence. Nine exhibitor states and Union Territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Manipur, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, will also participate.
A key highlight of this edition is the celebration of India's celebrated textile clusters, including Tirupur, Ichalkaranji, and Ahmedabad, among others — a move that signals an intent to position grassroots manufacturing alongside high-end fashion and technical textiles on the same global stage.
Knowledge Programme and Sessions
The programme will feature over 350 speakers from more than 20 countries and host over 100 knowledge sessions, comprising 39 panel discussions, 16 roundtables, 37 master classes, and 8 State sessions, among other specialised formats. Themes will span trade and investment, technology and innovation, sustainability and circularity, and fashion and craft.
Why It Matters
India is among the world's top textile exporters, and Bharat Tex has emerged as the government's flagship platform to consolidate that position. This comes amid intensifying global competition from Bangladesh, Vietnam, and China in apparel exports, making the expo's investment and sourcing conversations particularly consequential for the sector's medium-term trajectory. The inclusion of sustainability and circularity as core themes also reflects growing pressure from European Union buyers around supply-chain compliance and environmental standards.
With Bharat Tex 2026 just weeks away, industry bodies and state governments are expected to use the platform to announce investment commitments and bilateral sourcing agreements that could shape India's textile export pipeline well into 2027.
