Mumbai, July 15 (NationPress) The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) released a statement on Tuesday indicating that it received a bomb threat through an email from an unidentified source on the night of July 13. As a precautionary measure, the exchange has heightened its vigilance and oversight at its facilities.
The statement also disclosed that an FIR has been lodged regarding this matter, and all pertinent authorities have been notified of the email.
"Initial investigations conducted by the relevant authorities revealed no suspicious elements. The Exchange's operations remain unhindered and continue as usual," the statement emphasized.
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Mumbai Police and emergency response teams for their swift and professional actions," it added.
Upon receiving the bomb threat via email, the police acted promptly. Sources from the police confirmed that the BSE was targeted with a threatening email through its official website.
The email originated from an ID titled "Comrade Pinayari Vijayan," which called for an immediate security response.
"Four RDX IED bombs have been placed in the BSE's Feroze Tower Building, and they are set to detonate at 3 pm," read the threat message.
Within minutes of the alert, the Mumbai Police and bomb disposal squad arrived on the scene and initiated a search.
A case has been registered at the Mata Ramabai Marg Police Station under various clauses of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS).
After thorough checks yielded no evidence of any threats, the police declared the email to be a hoax.
An investigation is ongoing to trace the sender and the origin of the threatening email.
