Bomb Threat Emails Target Six Schools in Delhi, Investigations Underway

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) On Friday, six educational institutions in Delhi were the recipients of bomb threat emails. Authorities from the police stated that they are adhering to the established standard operating procedure (SOP), which involves comprehensive inspections.
The affected schools include: Bhatnagar Public School, Paschim Vihar; Cambridge School, Sriniwaspuri; DPS, East of Kailash; South Delhi Public School, Defence Colony; Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung Enclave; and Venkatesh Public School, Rohini. These threats have incited fear among parents and school authorities.
A statement from the Delhi Police noted, "We are following the established SOP for conducting thorough checks whenever such emails are received."
Emergency response teams, including fire department officials and police units, hurried to the schools after the initial alert was issued at 4:30 a.m. Following meticulous searches, officials confirmed that no suspicious materials were located at any of the premises.
The threatening email stated, "A clandestine dark web group is behind this, and there are numerous red rooms involved. The explosives are potent enough to obliterate buildings and endanger lives. Moreover, from today until December 14, coinciding with scheduled parent-teacher meetings, it has been verified through our dark sources that one of the schools involved is currently organizing sports day activities, where students will assemble in large numbers, thus creating a favorable scenario for an attack as the building will be mostly unattended with minimal staff present..."
The email also specified potential bomb blast dates: "December 13-14 could be the days your school faces an explosion."
The message ominously concluded, "Respond to this email with our demands, or the bombs will be activated."
Previous threats directed at schools in the city had also warned of imminent peril. Authorities verified that earlier threats, including one on December 9 targeting schools in RK Puram and Paschim Vihar, ultimately proved to be hoaxes. During that incident, students were sent home as a precaution while thorough searches were conducted.
This recent event is part of a series of similar email threats experienced in recent weeks. On December 11, over 40 Delhi schools were targeted with ransom demands via email, claiming that multiple explosives were concealed in school buildings, arranged to cause significant harm while minimizing structural damage. In all instances, no explosives were uncovered, yet the threats resulted in considerable disruption.
Due to these recurring hoaxes, the Delhi High Court previously directed the Delhi government and police to formulate a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for managing such crises. The court mandated that authorities submit a complete action plan by January 2024 to guarantee prompt and efficient responses to bomb threats.
Investigations into the origins of these emails are ongoing. Parents are voicing concerns regarding the safety and security of their children, urging schools to bolster protective measures.
