Delhi Public School in Dwarka Faces Bomb Threat, Classes Transition to Online Learning

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) On Friday morning, another bomb threat surfaced, this time at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Dwarka, indicating the sixth such occurrence in the national capital in merely ten days. The school administration alerted the fire department at 5:15 A.M., leading to the rapid deployment of police officers, fire brigade teams, and bomb squad units to the scene.

In a bid to ensure safety, the school was promptly evacuated, and classes were moved to an online format.

This alarming event follows a string of similar threats reported earlier in the week. On Tuesday, both Indian Public School in South Delhi and Crescent Public School in North West Delhi received bomb threats, inciting widespread fear.

Previously, on the Friday before, six schools, including Bhatnagar Public School (Paschim Vihar), Cambridge School (Sriniwaspuri), DPS (East of Kailash), South Delhi Public School (Defence Colony), Delhi Police Public School (Safdarjung Enclave), and Venkatesh Public School (Rohini), were targeted through email.

The threatening messages warned of imminent bomb blasts scheduled for December 13 and 14, highlighting potential targets such as school gatherings for parent-teacher meetings and sports day events.

The emails alleged involvement by a “dark web group” and contained disturbing specifics on how the bombs were purportedly placed to maximize harm while minimizing structural damage.

Authorities confirmed that all prior threats, including the one on December 9 aimed at schools in RK Puram and Paschim Vihar, were indeed hoaxes.

Nonetheless, given the critical importance of safeguarding the students, parents, teachers, and staff, these incidents have led to considerable disruption, necessitating the evacuation of students and thorough searches of the premises.

On December 11, over 40 schools in Delhi received similar threats demanding ransom, yet no explosives were discovered in any instance.

The Delhi High Court has acknowledged the ongoing hoaxes and mandated the Delhi government and Delhi Police to formulate a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address such emergencies.

Authorities have been directed to present a detailed action plan by January 2024 to ensure prompt and efficient responses to future threats.
