Las Vegas, Jan 11 (NationPress) The head of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) emphasized the remarkable capabilities and enthusiasm of South Korean businesses for technological innovation at CES 2025.

"I am genuinely thrilled to be part of CES 2025 as the organizer of the most extensive Korean Pavilion at this premier technology exhibition," stated KOTRA CEO and President Kang Gyeong-seong in an email interview with Yonhap News Agency.

This year, South Korea featured the highest number of exhibitors and claimed the most Innovation Awards, showcasing an unparalleled commitment to innovation.

A record-setting 1,031 Korean companies took part in CES 2025, which concluded on Friday after a four-day event in Las Vegas, amidst approximately 4,800 exhibitors from 160 nations.

South Korea secured the third position in participation, trailing behind the United States with around 1,500 firms and China with 1,300.

South Korean enterprises excelled in the CES Innovation Awards, winning 162 out of 363 awards distributed. Seven firms, including Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Telecom, were honored with the CES Best Innovation Awards.

Additionally, South Korea was recognized as a Global Innovation Champion at CES 2025, an accolade that highlights countries with leading technologies addressing global challenges.

KOTRA orchestrated the Korean Pavilion at Eureka Park during CES 2025, providing support to 445 startups and IT labs across varied sectors such as lifestyle, digital health, and artificial intelligence (AI). The Pavilion served as a platform for these companies to display their products and connect with corporate visitors.

"Representatives from international corporations expressed significant interest in the innovations showcased by South Korean participants," Kang remarked. "This indicates the global acknowledgment of our technological prowess."

He pointed out several notable technologies, including an eye-tracking sensor from Eyechip, a drone solution for smartphones from WEFLO, and a generative AI-driven 3D animation software from AiLive.

Particularly, he mentioned that Eyechip is anticipated to finalize a memorandum of understanding (MOU) valued at $5 million with an undisclosed global tech entity.

Throughout the four-day CES event, 40 companies in the Korean Pavilion either signed or were planning to sign MOUs amounting to a total of $30 million, he added.

"KOTRA is dedicated to ensuring these innovations presented at CES translate into export opportunities and global market success," Kang stated.
