New Delhi, June 30 (NationPress) Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal reiterated the government's dedication to fostering a supportive trade environment aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business and expanding market opportunities for Indian exporters.
During a conference with Export Promotion Councils and industry representatives at Vanijya Bhawan, the minister urged the industry to boost their manufacturing capabilities, diversify supply chains, and minimize import reliance to fulfill the vision of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
This meeting convened officials from the Department of Commerce, Department of Revenue, and various industry associations.
An official announcement highlighted that discussions focused on the impact of previous Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), their current status, challenges in utilization, opportunities from recently signed FTAs, and the industry's perspectives on ongoing and upcoming FTA negotiations.
Presentations were made by the Department of Commerce regarding the performance of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and the recent and proposed reforms.
The reforms aim to streamline procedures, enhance economies of scale, and utilize idle capacities in SEZs to help achieve the nation's goal of a $5 trillion economy by 2027.
Breakout discussions took place among officials from the Department of Commerce, Department of Revenue, and Trade Members on the ICEGATE Implementation at SEZs.
