New Delhi, June 30 (NationPress) The inauguration of Ericsson’s manufacturing facility is a testament to the global trust in India’s potential and its promising future, stated Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday.
While inaugurating Ericsson’s cutting-edge antenna manufacturing plant at VVDN’s Global Innovation Park in Manesar, Haryana, the minister highlighted that this event signifies more than just the establishment of a manufacturing unit — it represents the inception of a facility that will drive the networks of the future and connect millions worldwide.
Expressing the government’s broader vision, the minister remarked, “This is where global technology meets Indian innovation. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Make in India’ initiative is evolving into a ‘Make for the World’ mission.”
Stressing the transformative effect of international technology collaborations on India's telecom sector, the Union Minister emphasized that global investments from giants like Ericsson, Apple, Google, and Qualcomm extend beyond mere financial support.
“These partnerships introduce advanced technology, top-notch production standards, and comprehensive training for our engineers,” he noted, adding that such alliances have played a significant role in showcasing Indian talent globally.
Regarding Ericsson’s contributions, Scindia mentioned that the company’s initiatives — including network APIs, automation, and its Global AI Accelerator in Bengaluru — have greatly enhanced India’s standing in the global value chain.
“As India transitions from its Amrit Kaal to its Shatabdi Kaal over the next two decades,” this journey will not only transform India but will also contribute to transforming the world,” the minister asserted.
This facility, developed in partnership between Ericsson and VVDN Technologies, is the first of its kind in India to manufacture passive antennas for international markets.
Production is anticipated to commence in July 2025. This unique facility aims to localize over 50% of passive antenna production, designed to comply with stringent domestic and international standards, further establishing India as a reliable global manufacturing and innovation center.
Referencing the success of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Scindia noted that it has drawn investments exceeding Rs 4,000 crore, generated Rs 80,000 crore in production output, and created more than 34,000 jobs.
With liberalized FDI policies and sectoral reforms, over $39 billion in foreign investments have been unlocked since 2000, with the telecom sector contributing nearly 7% of India’s GDP.
“This facility represents a long-term commitment to Indian talent, engineering, and innovation. We aim to establish a comprehensive antenna ecosystem here,” said Mikael Eriksson, Head of Antenna Systems at Ericsson.
