Included among the suspects is a civic volunteer and an individual associated with a deceased Trinamool Congress MLA.
As reported by a senior police official, the kidnapping was reportedly motivated by a land conflict. Mandal was rescued unharmed due to prompt police intervention.
Initially, authorities detained seven individuals: Mominul Islam, Suman Mandal, Ajmir Mandal, Iman ul Kabir, Ansarul Ansari, Nayan Sheikh, and Humayun Kabir—all from Domkal.
Humayun Kabir serves as a civic volunteer at the Domkal Police Station.
During questioning, the name of an eighth individual, Mohammad Ali Mubarak, surfaced. Mubarak is reportedly a close ally of the late Domkal MLA, Jafikul Islam, and he was apprehended later that day.
Authorities also confiscated four vehicles believed to have been utilized in the crime.
