New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) Aravind Srinivas, the co-founder and CEO of Perplexity AI, has asserted that the company’s Comet browser could potentially completely eliminate the roles of recruiters and administrative assistants in the workplace.
Srinivasan pointed out that the Comet browser, integrated with sophisticated language models, automates numerous recruitment functions.
During an episode of The Verge podcast, he mentioned that a single command in the Comet browser can manage candidate sourcing, outreach, response tracking, and updates to spreadsheets.
It can even coordinate interviews by synchronizing calendars and producing meeting briefs, thereby removing tedious manual follow-ups. “A recruiter’s week’s worth of work is just one command… It doesn’t even have to be a command — it should be proactive,” Srinivas stated.
He suggested that Comet and similar technologies could reach this level of automation very soon. Srinivas envisions AI agents that will be capable of overseeing schedules, managing paperwork, and conducting follow-ups, as AI models continue to evolve every month.
Currently, Comet is only accessible to paying users; however, Perplexity has begun to provide limited access to free users. The CEO of Perplexity has previously remarked that while the basic browser may be made widely available, the more advanced agent-based features will likely remain exclusive to premium users.
In addition to functioning as a web browser, Comet promotes its Gen AI capabilities, which can generate graphics, text, and emails. It can also support AI agents that facilitate ticket reservations by navigating websites.
Srinivas has previously advised young professionals to quickly adapt to these changes or risk being left behind as AI continues to dominate office tasks. He stressed that the employability of those proficient in AI will undoubtedly increase, urging young individuals to invest their time in AI platforms rather than spending it idly on social media.
Perplexity AI has recently secured additional funding, which values the company at $18 billion.
