Erik Solheim Commends Cuttack Station's Revamp as Indian Railways Progresses

Cuttack, Jan 2 (NationPress): Erik Solheim, the Former Minister of Climate and Environment from Norway, expressed his admiration for the redevelopment of Indian Railways on Thursday, declaring, "Indian rail is improving day by day."
Solheim shared a video showcasing the Cuttack railway station (located in Odisha) on his social media platform, noting, "This is not an airport; this is a railway station opened in Cuttack, Odisha."
Previously, Erik Solheim has lauded India multiple times under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is worth mentioning that the Modi administration has prioritized the modernization of Indian Railways. As of December 2, 2024, a total of 136 Vande Bharat trains equipped with Chair Car Coaches are operational across the nation. The launch of these trains, a symbol of the Make in India initiative, highlights the country's ability to produce world-class, domestically manufactured rail technology.
The Kavach system, aimed at enhancing train safety, has been implemented over 1,548 route kilometers (RKm) on both South-Central Railway and North Central Railway. Currently, approximately 97 percent of the entire Broad Gauge (BG) network of Indian Railways has been electrified.
In a previous exclusive interview with IANS, Solheim remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's clean energy initiatives are fostering remarkable opportunities that will not only assist India in attaining its Net Zero objective but also lift millions out of poverty.
He added, "PM Modi is now working on making renewable energy mainstream, which would create several economic opportunities in years to come."
"I'm very optimistic when it comes to governments and industries discussing the green economy. For PM Modi, the green economy is another way to elevate more individuals out of poverty, empower the middle class to accumulate more wealth, and enable the country to shine on the global stage by leveraging the potential of solar, wind, hydropower, and other green assets," emphasized the veteran diplomat.
