Firstsource Solutions Q1 FY27 profit falls 19% to ₹166 crore, stock sinks 10%
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Shares of Firstsource Solutions tumbled over 10 per cent on Thursday, 6 August after the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group company disclosed a steep fall in earnings for the first quarter of FY27 (Q1 FY27). Net profit slid 19 per cent sequentially to ₹166 crore, down from ₹205 crore in the preceding quarter, according to the company's stock exchange filing.
Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights
The operating performance deteriorated sharply alongside the profit decline. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) collapsed 45.2 per cent sequentially to ₹337 crore, compared with ₹615.2 crore in Q4 FY26. Consequently, the EBIT margin contracted from 24 per cent to 12.4 per cent — a near-halving of operating profitability in a single quarter.
Revenue from operations stood at ₹2,725 crore for the quarter, down from ₹2,853 crore in Q4 FY26, reflecting pressure on both the top line and the bottom line simultaneously.
Market Reaction and Stock Performance
Investors responded swiftly to the earnings miss. Shares of Firstsource Solutions were trading at ₹303.65, a decline of ₹35.80 or 10.53 per cent, making it one of the sharper single-session falls in the stock's recent history.
The broader trend has been equally concerning. The stock had already shed 3.46 per cent in the five trading sessions prior to the results, and has fallen more than 22 per cent over the past one month. On a six-month basis, it is down 4.8 per cent, while the year-to-date loss stands at nearly 9 per cent.

What to Watch Next
The scale of the EBIT margin compression — from 24 per cent to 12.4 per cent in a single quarter — will likely prompt analysts to revisit full-year earnings estimates. Investors will be watching for management commentary on whether the margin erosion reflects one-time costs or a structural shift in the company's cost base. Any guidance revision could determine whether the stock finds support near current levels or continues its downward trajectory.
