New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) - The FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), a leading association of businesswomen in India, emphasized the necessity to increase support and empower women entrepreneurs, which will ultimately contribute to strengthening the nation’s economy.
The government has launched various initiatives such as Drone Didi and Ladli Behen Yojana aimed at enhancing women’s employment. However, the Economic Survey 2024-25 pointed out significant disparities in the statistics concerning women’s participation in employment and entrepreneurship.
According to the survey, merely 22 percent of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India are owned by women.
“This statistic is not just a number; it serves as a call to action. We must step up, support, and empower women entrepreneurs because their achievements translate into economic growth,” stated Joyshree Das Verma, President of FLO, during the organization's award ceremony for women MSMEs in the national capital.
“Women-led MSMEs act as catalysts for innovation, employment, and economic resilience. The more we uplift them, the stronger our nation will be,” Verma added.
She also highlighted the MSME Assist Cell at FLO, which aims to assist women entrepreneurs in navigating financial management, compliance, and market access, while providing them with essential mentorship, resources, and opportunities to utilize government schemes.
“When we uplift women entrepreneurs, we uplift families, communities, and the broader economy,” Verma remarked.
FLO’s President noted that the organization received 104 applications for the MSME awards this year.
“This reflects the immense talent, determination, and aspiration present within our FLO network. The competition was fierce, and I want to emphasize that every single applicant here tonight is a winner in their own right. While the awards may honor a select few, every woman who dared to challenge norms and pursue her business vision is part of India’s entrepreneurial success narrative,” she stated.
The platform provides skill development, policy advocacy, economic participation, and leadership mentoring, empowering women to overcome obstacles and move forward with confidence.
