Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) The FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), a premier association of women in business, expressed its approval of the Union Budget 2026, labeling it as a women-centric and MSME-led growth initiative.
Presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, the Budget was met with optimism.
Poonam Sharma, President of FLO, remarked that the Budget reflects a decisive, credible, and continuous commitment.
“It strikes a balance between fiscal responsibility and inclusive growth, positioning women, MSMEs, and manufacturing as central to India’s developmental trajectory. This Budget is a blueprint for the long-term empowerment of women entrepreneurs and professionals, focusing on building sustainable capacity and opportunities,” Sharma articulated.
Highlighting the Budget’s emphasis on women-led initiatives, Sharma pointed out the establishment of a comprehensive care ecosystem, which includes training for 1.5 lakh multiskilled caregivers, fortifying health institutions, and broadening geriatric and mental health services.
“These initiatives are vital for boosting women’s participation in the workforce,” she added.
In addition, the introduction of girls’ hostels in every district, improved access to STEM education, SHE Marts for women entrepreneurs, and targeted support for Divyangjan livelihoods further illustrate the government’s pledge to inclusive growth, Sharma noted.
“FICCI FLO applauds the government’s multifaceted approach to fortifying MSMEs, which includes the creation of a Rs 10,000 crore SME Growth Fund, improved liquidity through TReDS and credit assurances, and the launch of Corporate Mitras to assist with compliance, particularly in Tier II and Tier III cities,” she elaborated.
These initiatives are poised to significantly assist women-led MSMEs by enhancing access to financing, minimizing procedural hurdles, and fostering scalability and competitiveness.
Sharma also acknowledged the ongoing emphasis on manufacturing, industrial corridors, logistics, clean energy, and public capital investment within the Budget.
This “solidifies India’s growth fundamentals and positions the nation as a global manufacturing powerhouse. Reforms facilitating ease of doing business, trust-based governance, and simplified tax compliance will be particularly beneficial for first-generation entrepreneurs and small enterprises,” she concluded.
