New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) The leading business organization, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), expressed its support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day address that focused on empowering the youth of India, enhancing the MSME sector, and advancing the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
In a statement, the CII affirmed its dedication to this mission by promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating connections for MSMEs, and providing the necessary skills and infrastructure for a genuinely self-reliant economy.
The landmark Rs 1 lakh crore youth empowerment initiative under the PM-Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, which offers Rs 15,000 support for first-time job seekers, is set to create numerous employment opportunities, improve skills, and pave the way for sustainable livelihoods, according to CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee.
As the backbone of India’s economy, MSMEs are expected to benefit immensely from these initiatives. By gaining better access to talent, targeted incentives, and a stronger domestic manufacturing framework, they will be better positioned to scale, innovate, and integrate more effectively into global supply chains.
The focus on indigenous capabilities, in sectors ranging from high-tech industries such as semiconductors to defense projects like the Sudarshan Chakra Mission and renewable energy initiatives, reinforces the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
“Moreover, the success of Operation Sindoor highlights India’s evolving defense capabilities and emphasizes the need to safeguard national and economic security through enhanced indigenous systems, accelerated development of cutting-edge military technologies, and self-sufficiency in critical defense infrastructure and supply chains,” the statement elaborated.
During his 103-minute address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi articulated a pivotal moment for the nation, laying out a vision for a self-reliant, strategically independent, and technologically advanced India.
His speech outlined a roadmap for a Viksit Bharat by 2047, combining policy announcements with a clear ideological direction, showcasing India's evolution from dependency to global confidence.
Among the most ambitious plans mentioned was the introduction of India's first Made in India semiconductor chip by the end of the year, along with the privatization of the nuclear sector.
PM Modi stressed that self-reliance should also encompass sectors such as jet engines, social media platforms, fertilizers, and pharmaceuticals.
The National Critical Minerals Mission and the Deepwater Exploration Mission were highlighted as key steps toward achieving energy and industrial independence, with 1,200 mineral sites currently under exploration and offshore energy resources being utilized to lessen reliance on foreign fuels.
