New Delhi, Oct 22 (NationPress) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed her congratulations to Pratibha Singh, a judge of the Delhi High Court, on her recent selection as the chair of the World Intellectual Property Organisation's (WIPO) Advisory Board of Judges.

Singh is set to serve on the advisory board for the term spanning 2025-2027.

“Congratulations to Justice Pratibha Singh on achieving ‘a first for India and the Asian region’ milestone,” FM Sitharaman remarked in a post on the X social media platform.

“Justice Singh has significant experience in IP matters and has previously authored a two-volume peer-reviewed book on Patent Law. Her contributions to jurisprudence are remarkable,” she added.

Previously, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also conveyed his best wishes to Pratibha Singh.

“Heartfelt congratulations to Justice Pratibha M. Singh ji of the Delhi High Court on her appointment as Chair of the WIPO Advisory Board of Judges for the term 2025-2027,” Goyal posted on his official X account.

Goyal described the appointment as a proud moment for India, reinforcing the nation’s strong global presence.

“This esteemed appointment is a moment of immense pride for Bharat, showcasing the nation's increasing global significance in the realm of Intellectual Property. In 2017, Singh became a Permanent Judge of the Delhi High Court, having previously held the roles of presiding judge and chair of the inaugural IP Division of the Delhi High Court during the 2021-22 session.

Beginning her legal career in 1991, Singh has frequently appeared before the Indian Patent Office, the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, and the IP Appellate Board.
