New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) On Tuesday, the government forged a partnership with the online food delivery service Zomato by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving access to flexible and technology-driven job opportunities via the National Career Service (NCS) platform, which is projected to generate approximately 2.5 lakh employment opportunities each year.
Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya stated that this initiative would integrate roles within the platform economy into the formal employment framework, linking young individuals and women job seekers to respectable, technology-oriented job prospects.
Dr. Mandaviya pointed out that the NCS portal has become a pivotal resource for job seekers on both national and international fronts, successfully connecting millions with job and livelihood options.
Since its launch in 2015, the portal has facilitated the mobilization of over 7.7 crore job vacancies, continuing to act as a crucial link between job seekers and employers.
He added that various significant organizations have already collaborated with the NCS portal, and the alliance with Zomato signifies another important step in the Ministry’s initiative to broaden flexible and technology-enabled job opportunities.
Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, emphasized the necessity of providing social protection to every organized and unorganized worker in the nation.
She noted that the MoU aligns with the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) and the government’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047, which aims to promote formalization and social security for all workers.
Karandlaje urged all stakeholders to collaborate closely with the government to realize the vision of inclusive and secure livelihoods for every worker.
Vandana Gurnani, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring dignified employment and sustainable livelihoods for all.
She announced that new job opportunities available on the NCS portal around Diwali are expected to provide a timely boost for both job seekers and employers.
Under the new ‘Aggregator’ category, Zomato will feature around 2.5 lakh flexible job opportunities annually on the NCS portal, granting organized access to real-time income potentials for delivery partners and gig workers.
