New Delhi, Sep 20 (NationPress) The government is poised to uncover profound insights into the utilization of data for policymaking through the Time Use Survey 2024, as reported by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
Data from the Time Use Survey highlights shifts in work-life dynamics and gender roles since 2019, aiding policymakers in formulating social and economic initiatives. This data serves as a crucial resource detailing the activities undertaken by the population and the duration dedicated to these activities.
The National Statistics Office, in collaboration with the Centre for Development Studies in Thiruvananthapuram, is set to organize a Data User’s Conference on the Time Use Survey 2024.
Scheduled for September 22 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the conference aims to bridge the gap between data producers and policymakers, offering insights into how individuals allocate their time across paid work, unpaid tasks, childcare, adult care, education, and leisure.
The 2024 Time Use Survey builds upon the previous survey conducted in 2019, providing comparative evidence to monitor shifts in work and life patterns across India.
The agenda includes technical sessions focusing on the survey's design, significant findings, and practical applications of TUS data, alongside a panel discussion and open interactions with attendees.
About 175 participants are expected, comprising researchers, economists, policymakers, representatives from international organizations, civil society, and the media.
The conference will conclude with a summary of reflections and insights from the discussions, as noted by the Ministry.
This event is aimed at reinforcing MoSPI’s commitment to enhancing the nation’s statistical framework.
The discussions are anticipated to bolster the significance of the Time Use Survey within India’s statistical system, equipping policymakers to tackle critical socio-economic challenges with solid data backing, the Ministry added.
India joins a select group of countries, such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, the United States, and China, in conducting the National Time Use Survey.
