New Delhi, Sep 13 (NationPress) Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), one of the leading consumer goods companies in India, has revealed a decrease in prices for several well-known products following the government's reduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on personal care and food items.
The updated prices will take effect from September 22, with the revised packages expected to hit stores nationwide soon.
Among the personal care items, Dove shampoo (180 ml) will now be priced at Rs 145 instead of Rs 165, while Lux soap (100 gm) will be available for Rs 30, down from Rs 35.
Lifebuoy soap (125 gm) will also see a price reduction, from Rs 33 to Rs 28, as per the official announcement.
In the food and beverages segment, Kissan Jam (500 gm) will now cost Rs 140, reduced from Rs 160, and Horlicks (1 kg) will be priced at Rs 350, down from Rs 390.
Bru coffee (100 gm) will also see a price drop to Rs 160, previously Rs 180.
These price reductions follow the GST Council's decision to decrease tax rates on these items from 18 percent to 5 percent.
The government has mandated that companies publish advertisements in newspapers to inform consumers of the new pricing.
A spokesperson for HUL stated that the company is dedicated to providing value to its customers by adjusting prices in accordance with the GST changes while ensuring the quality of its offerings.
“Our focus is on delivering value to consumers by aligning our pricing with the recent GST reforms, all the while upholding the quality of our products,” the company expressed in a statement.
