Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) The Income Tax Department officially unveiled its new website named ‘Kar Saathi’ on Thursday, with the goal of enhancing the ease of tax-related transactions and improving user experience.
According to the department, this platform consolidates all direct tax information, making it simpler to navigate and quicker to utilize.
In a post on X, Income Tax India announced that this innovative website will enable taxpayers to find all necessary information in one centralized location, along with the introduction of ‘Kar Saathi’, an AI-driven assistant designed to help users with their tax inquiries and processes.
“The new Income Tax website is now live. It's easier to navigate and more efficient,” the department stated.
“You can now access all Income Tax-related information in one place. Meet Kar Saathi, your AI companion to simplify your Direct Tax journeys,” it further emphasized.
This initiative is part of the government's wider strategy to modernize tax administration and enhance user satisfaction through advanced technology.
The AI chatbot, Kar Saathi, is expected to provide 24/7 support to taxpayers via the department's website.
The initiative was previously highlighted by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal during the launch of ‘PRARAMBH’, an outreach initiative aimed at facilitating a smooth transition to the new Income Tax Act, 2025.
He mentioned that digital services, including the new website and support tools, will be implemented in stages to establish a seamless and tech-oriented system.
Agrawal characterized PRARAMBH, which stands for Policy Reform and Responsible Action for Mission Viksit Bharat, as a significant milestone in India's tax administration evolution.
He indicated that the shift to the new tax framework is not merely about enacting a new law, but also about creating a system that is simpler, clearer, and more dependable for taxpayers.
In the course of simplifying procedures, the number of regulations has been notably decreased from 510 to 333, while the number of forms has been reduced from 399 to 190.
This simplification is projected to alleviate compliance burdens and may eliminate the need for over six crore transactions.
