Team India claimed two Silver Medals and three Merit Awards at the Taipei Capital Cup 2026, an international skilling competition held in Taipei, Taiwan, from 26 to 28 May. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship announced the results on Friday, 29 May, marking a strong outing for Indian competitors on the global stage.

India's Medal Haul

Muskan won a Silver Medal in Painting and Decorating, while Arjun Sumathi Vijayabashkar secured a Silver Medal in Mobile Applications Development. Each Silver Medal winner received a cash prize of 8,000 Taiwan Dollars.

Three Merit Awards were also earned: Mohamed Mafaz Poonaikannan Rabi Ahamed in Software Applications Development, Suresh Kumar Ganesan Meena in Digital Construction, and Md Seraj in Automobile Technology. Merit Award recipients received 5,000 Taiwan Dollars each.

Competing Against 15 Nations

The Indian contingent faced participants from 15 countries spanning Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania. India competed across five skill categories, covering domains from mobile application development and software applications to digital construction and automobile technology — all areas central to the country's emerging industrial and digital economy.

What the Government Said

Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, congratulated the winners, saying the performance 'reflected the confidence, determination and capability of India's youth.' He noted that the competition offered valuable exposure to international benchmarks and would help prepare competitors for larger events, including WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.

'Every such achievement strengthens our resolve to build a globally competitive, future-ready workforce and advances our vision of Viksit Bharat powered by skilled and empowered youth,' Chaudhary said.

Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, also commended the competitors, experts, and mentors, calling the result a reflection of the 'growing strength of India's skilling ecosystem and the world-class potential of Indian youth.'

This comes amid India's sustained push to position itself as a global skills powerhouse, with the government expanding its skilling ecosystem to develop industry-ready talent across technical and vocational domains. The Taipei Capital Cup performance builds on India's growing track record at international skills competitions and serves as a direct qualifier pathway toward WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the world's largest vocational skills competition.
