New Delhi, April 11 (NationPress) In alignment with India's ambition to establish itself as a global hub for pharmaceutical innovation, the initiative ‘India Pharma 2026’ seeks to facilitate a significant shift in the industry from a volume-centric approach to one focused on value and innovation, as stated in an official announcement on Saturday.
The Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers is preparing for the 9th edition of India Pharma 2026, in partnership with FICCI and the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), scheduled for April 13-14 in New Delhi.
The event will be officially launched by JP Nadda, the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, alongside Anupriya Patel, the Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers.
As noted by the ministry, this conference provides a vital platform for sectoral development and international partnerships, concentrating on India’s pharmaceutical capabilities, research and development (R&D), and the robustness of global supply chains.
The theme, ‘Discover in India: Leapfrogging Life-Sciences Innovation,’ underscores the transformative impact of life sciences in promoting healthcare accessibility, stimulating economic growth, and fortifying global health systems.
India is a key player in the worldwide supply of affordable, high-quality medications. Building on this solid foundation, India Pharma 2026 aspires to transition the sector from a volume-oriented framework to a value-led and innovation-driven global leader, the ministry stated.
This event is expected to draw a notable array of policymakers, industry leaders, and expert practitioners from the pharmaceutical domain.
Key figures attending include Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals; Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; and Prof. Vinod K. Paul, Member of NITI Aayog.
Additionally, the event will showcase industry stalwarts like Dr. Renu Swarup, Former Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology, and Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO of Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).
Besides a dedicated special session titled ‘Start-up Showcase’, the two-day gathering will host six plenary sessions.
