New Delhi, Nov 3 (NationPress) India boasts the highest AI adoption rate in the Asia Pacific region at 92%, as detailed in a report that highlights the nation's vibrant, digitally savvy workforce and strong desire for innovation.
The analysis conducted by Boston Consulting Group outlines how employees in nine Asia Pacific markets express both optimism and apprehension regarding the rise of AI, providing an insightful overview of workplace changes in the region.
According to the report, 92% of Indian employees utilize AI on a regular basis, which is 20 points higher than the global average, while Japan trails significantly at only 51%. The highest levels of optimism about AI are found in China (70%), Malaysia (68%), and Indonesia (69%).
“India's remarkable AI adoption rate not only reflects enthusiasm but also readiness for further transformation,” stated Nipun Kalra, India Leader of BCG. “What sets India apart is the confidence of its workforce and strong leadership engagement, with 58% of frontline employees receiving clear directives on AI use, nearly double the regional average, fostering an environment ripe for substantial and responsible innovation.”
Kalra further noted, “The report illustrates how organizations can transition from merely experimenting with AI to fundamentally rethinking their operational frameworks. The current opportunity for India and the region lies in intentionally crafting this transformation by developing governance, skills, and structures that convert AI's potential into tangible business and economic value.”
The findings revealed that Asia is at the forefront of AI adoption, with 78% of employees in the APAC region utilizing the technology regularly, compared to 72% globally.
Approximately 70% of frontline workers in APAC engage with AI weekly or more, in contrast to just 51% worldwide.
Across the Asia Pacific, the workforce is adopting AI faster and with greater enthusiasm than anywhere else globally, yet this rapid growth is accompanied by rising concerns about future employment.
While 60% of APAC employees harbor a positive outlook on AI's impact (compared to 52% globally), 52% also express fears of job displacement attributed to AI, according to the report.
