New Delhi, Sep 8 (NationPress) Kia India announced on Monday that it will completely transfer the benefits of the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction to its customers across the entire internal combustion engine (ICE) lineup, with price reductions of up to Rs 4.48 lakh effective from September 22.
This update follows the government's decision to decrease GST on cars from 28% to 18%, thereby enhancing the accessibility of mobility options ahead of the festive season.
The Kia Carnival will experience the most significant price reduction, amounting to Rs 4,48,542. Other models such as the Syros (Rs 1,86,003), Sonet (Rs 1,64,471), Carens Clavis (Rs 78,674), Seltos (Rs 75,372), and Carnes (Rs 48,513) will also see substantial cuts.
The Goods and Services Tax Council has adopted a new three-tier tax structure: 5% and 18% as the main slabs, along with an additional 40% slab for sin goods and ultra-luxury items.
This new indirect tax regime commenced on the first day of Navratri, September 22, replacing the previous four-tier system of 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28% GST.
Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, expressed, "We appreciate the Government of India's forward-thinking reforms aimed at reducing GST on passenger vehicles. Previously, companies such as Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault India, and Hyundai India have indicated they would also extend GST cut benefits to their customers.
