New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has reached an unprecedented turnover of over Rs 1.70 lakh crore in the financial year 2024-25, as reported by KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar.

In an interview with IANS, Kumar emphasized that the Khadi sector not only creates employment opportunities but has also experienced significant financial advancement.

“In the last financial year, Khadi and Village Industries recorded a turnover of Rs 1,56,000 crore. This year, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the figure has exceeded Rs 1,70,551 crore,” Kumar disclosed to IANS.

“We have set our sights on crossing Rs 2 lakh crore in the forthcoming financial year, aiming for a historic milestone in the sector,” he added.

Reflecting on the transformation over the past decade, Kumar remarked, “In the last 11 years, under PM Modi’s leadership, our turnover has escalated from Rs 31,000 crore to over Rs 1.70 lakh crore. These figures are indicative of our steady progress in production, sales, and employment generation.

“We are also planning to upgrade the Khadi India store in Connaught Place, Delhi, to make it grander and a true reflection of our heritage and traditions,” he noted.

Earlier, during a press conference, Kumar expressed his pride in Khadi’s remarkable growth.

“Over the last 11 years, a new identity for Khadi has been established under PM Modi’s vision and guidance. KVIC is achieving new milestones, which is essential for the vision of a self-reliant India,” he mentioned.

He highlighted that the production, which was Rs 811.08 crore in the financial year 2013-14, has surged over four-and-a-half times (366 percent) to Rs 3,783.36 crore in FY25, marking the highest performance to date.

Additionally, there has been a notable increase in Khadi garment sales. From Rs 1,081.04 crore in 2013-14, sales have skyrocketed nearly six-and-a-half times to Rs 7,145.61 crore in FY25.

“The promotion of Khadi by PM Modi on prominent platforms has significantly contributed to its sales,” he concluded.
