Meal Deals Become Essential for Quick-Service Operations in the APAC Region: A Comprehensive Report

New Delhi, Dec 24 (NationPress) Meal deals, initially created to draw in customers during periods of high inflation, have established themselves as a vital component of the food service landscape, particularly in quick-service restaurant (QSR) venues throughout the Asia-Pacific (APAC) area, according to a report released on Tuesday.
These meal deals typically consist of a main dish such as a burger or sandwich, paired with a snack and a drink, offered collectively at a price that is lower than the total cost of the items purchased separately.
The analysis by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics firm, indicates that this pricing method makes meal deals particularly appealing to consumers in search of cost-effective lunch solutions, especially during tough economic periods characterized by increasing inflation rates.
“Even in the face of economic challenges posed by inflation, the meal deal sector has demonstrated remarkable resilience. The hybrid work patterns that have emerged post-pandemic have complicated the ability of retailers and food service operators to forecast weekday lunch demand,” stated Bokkala Parthasaradhi Reddy, Lead Consumer Analyst at GlobalData.
“Nevertheless, meal deals continue to be favored by both employees and students, showcasing their role in providing convenience and value. The widespread availability of meal deals is particularly evident at QSR outlets, where they rank among the most sought-after menu options, featuring in over half of restaurant listings,” he continued.
The report emphasized that beyond mere affordability, factors such as taste, quality, and variety play significant roles in the appeal of these meal deals.
Consequently, some operators have enhanced their offerings by introducing high-quality meal kits or distinctive dining experiences, which not only provide cost savings but also align with consumers’ personal preferences and lifestyle choices.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that younger consumers, especially those from Gen Z, are more inclined to pursue these budget-friendly options.
“This demographic’s preference for meal deals underscores the critical need for foodservice brands to innovate and adapt their products to satisfy these evolving demands,” noted Deepak Nautiyal, Consumer and Retail Commercial Director, APAC and ME, GlobalData.
