New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz India announced a remarkable milestone, achieving its highest annual sales ever in the nation for the financial year 2024-25 (FY25), with a total of 18,928 vehicles sold during this period.
This represents a 4 percent increase from the previous fiscal year (FY24), as per the company's official statement.
The surge in sales was primarily attributed to the robust demand for high-end luxury vehicles, an increasing interest in electric vehicles (EVs), and consistent performance from its flagship models.
Nonetheless, the company experienced a decline in sales during the first quarter of 2025 (Q1 FY25), with only 4,775 cars sold, marking nearly a 12 percent drop compared to the same quarter last year (Q1 FY24).
This downturn was largely due to reduced demand in the entry-level luxury segment, which is currently grappling with significant competition and price-sensitive consumers.
Despite this setback, the performance of Mercedes-Benz’s high-end models was outstanding. The luxury segment, which includes vehicles like the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS SUV, and AMG models, experienced a 34 percent increase in sales.
These premium vehicles now account for more than one-fourth of the brand's total sales in India, as stated by the carmaker.
In FY25, Mercedes-Benz’s EV sales soared by 51 percent, with battery-powered vehicles now making up 7 percent of total sales.
The locally produced EQS SUV emerged as the best-selling electric vehicle for the company. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, electric vehicle sales represented 8 percent of total sales.
Meanwhile, the company’s core models, including the C-Class, GLC, GLE, and the long-wheelbase E-Class, continued to perform admirably.
The LWB E-Class maintained its status as India’s top-selling luxury car, particularly with the introduction of the new E 450 variant.
Conversely, the entry luxury segment witnessed a significant 28 percent decline in the first quarter of 2025.
Mercedes-Benz is dedicated to providing feature-rich and high-quality vehicles rather than compromising on features to increase volume in the competitive lower-end market.
