Bengaluru, Jan 7 (NationPress) On Tuesday, Microsoft revealed its commitment to generating over 200,000 new job opportunities within the next five years, alongside facilitating an extra $1.5 billion in venture capital for India's AI and software-as-a-service (SaaS) sectors.

To achieve this, the tech leader has established a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SaaSBoomi, a prominent community for B2B startups in India.

During the ‘Microsoft AI Tour’ event, the company stated that this strategic partnership is designed to boost the growth of India’s AI and SaaS ecosystem, aiming to position the country as a product nation and contribute to its trillion-dollar economy.

By combining SaaSBoomi’s vast network with Microsoft’s technological capabilities, the alliance intends to promote innovation and entrepreneurial ventures, particularly in tier II cities.

“In the upcoming five years, Microsoft and SaaSBoomi aspire to influence over 5,000 startups and support more than 10,000 entrepreneurs, enhance the skills of over 150,000 startup employees through targeted workshops, stimulate regional growth in over 20 tier II cities, generate over 200,000 new job opportunities, and attract an additional $1.5 billion in venture capital for the Indian AI and SaaS ecosystem,” the tech giant stated.

As part of this collaboration, Microsoft will also assist in the development of more than 50 unicorns and soonicorns, fostering advancements in innovation, sustainability, and technological infrastructure.

In a related announcement, Microsoft Research (MSR) Lab unveiled an AI Innovation Network to reinforce its dedication to nurturing the AI ecosystem in India.

Through the AI Innovation Network, MSR will forge new collaborations, particularly with digital natives, to accelerate the move from research to practical business applications.

MSR India has already commenced a partnership with Physics Wallah focusing on math reasoning and is engaged in ongoing discussions with other digital natives regarding areas such as causal inference, optimizing Indic LLMs, prompt optimization, and reinforcement learning.

MSR India has a longstanding tradition of both incubating startups and open-sourcing research technologies that have subsequently been adopted by startups.

The company emphasized its strong commitment to enhancing the sustainability of AI and is addressing the resources necessary for the responsible development of AI infrastructure.
