Mumbai, Dec 12 (NationPress) Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella on Friday launched the revolutionary 'MahaCrimeOS AI', an innovative AI and Azure-driven platform aimed at expediting cybercrime investigations. MahaCrimeOS AI is crafted to empower law enforcement officers with AI tools, enabling them to resolve cases more swiftly and efficiently, integrating human expertise with responsible technological advancements.

This initiative empowers law enforcement to expedite cybercrime investigations and establishes a new standard for digital security in India, as the nation grapples with a dramatic rise in cybercrime, with over 3.6 million incidents reported in 2024 according to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

The platform has been developed by CyberEye, leaders in advanced Cyber Security and IoT technologies and a Microsoft Partner ISV, in collaboration with the Maharashtra government’s Special Purpose Vehicle MARVEL and the Microsoft India Development Center (IDC).

Currently operational in 23 Nagpur police stations, MahaCrimeOS AI was endorsed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who proposed its expansion to all 1,100 police stations across Maharashtra.

“The vision behind creating MARVEL is to develop a platform that collaborates with global deep-technology leaders to craft AI copilots that can fundamentally transform governance. Our partnership with Microsoft began with addressing intricate cybercrime challenges, but its potential extends far beyond,” stated Fadnavis.

MahaCrimeOS AI is built on the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and Microsoft Foundry, incorporating advanced AI assistants, automated workflows, and secure cloud infrastructure.

With integrated access to India’s criminal laws via the AI RAG and open-source intelligence, MahaCrimeOS AI aids investigators in connecting cases, analyzing digital evidence, and responding to threats more promptly and effectively.

“By leveraging the extensive capabilities of Microsoft Azure alongside state-of-the-art AI technologies, we’re equipping every officer in Maharashtra to investigate more rapidly, intelligently, and securely,” remarked Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India and South Asia.

The proposed statewide rollout—advocated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis—will allow police stations throughout Maharashtra to digitally register and investigate cybercrimes using standardized, AI-enhanced workflows.

Harssh Poddar, Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural and CEO of MARVEL, commented: “MahaCrimeOS AI is revolutionizing our approach to combating cybercrime—transforming complexity into clarity and speed. This platform is not merely about accelerated investigations; it’s about fostering trust, establishing new governance standards, and creating a model that can scale nationwide.”

Ram Ganesh, Founder and CEO of CyberEye, articulated that by utilizing Microsoft’s technological prowess, “we are assisting law enforcement in crafting India’s digital defense—empowering them to safeguard citizens more swiftly and confidently.”
