Hyderabad, April 22 (NationPress) India boasts over 480 mid-market global capability centres (GCCs), providing jobs for more than 210,000 professionals and hosting over 680 mid-market GCC Units, as reported on Tuesday.
This segment plays a critical role in shaping India’s GCC landscape, representing 27 percent of all GCCs and 22 percent of total GCC units nationwide.
GCCs remain a vital growth sector for India's tech industry, contributing nearly one-third of the industry’s total exports.
“The upcoming wave of global capability will derive from speed, specialization, and strategic influence rather than size. With world-class talent and a dynamic digital ecosystem, mid-market GCCs are evolving into cultural innovation labs and centres of excellence, spearheading R&D, product innovation, and enterprise digitization for global impact,” stated Rajesh Nambiar, President of Nasscom.
According to a report by Nasscom and Zinnov, mid-market GCCs are establishing themselves as high-impact innovation hubs, fostering agility, product excellence, and large-scale enterprise transformation.
In the last two years alone, over 45 new mid-market GCCs have initiated operations in India, making up nearly 35 percent of total GCCs and 30 percent of total GCC units during this timeframe.
Although operating at roughly 40 percent the scale of their larger counterparts (Non-Mid-market GCCs), mid-market GCCs are persistently achieving transformative results in product innovation, enterprise agility, digital maturity, and enhancing niche skill capabilities.
Their strategic focus and streamlined operating models have led to a 1.3 times greater presence in transformation hubs, with a maturity curve advancing 1.2 times faster than non-mid-market GCCs.
Today, India is home to 47 percent of global product management talent for mid-market GCCs and over 25 percent of their DeepTech workforce, solidifying its status as a global hub for next-gen capabilities in AI/ML, cybersecurity, cloud, and data science.
In terms of market distribution, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, NCR, and Chennai remain the top destinations for mid-market GCCs, attracting 74 percent of all newly established GCC units, according to the report.
